We live about 10 houses down from Mehris and after moving in close to 2 years ago have eaten there probably 50 times. Every time the food is consistently delicious. The service is great. Anthony is very friendly, knows us on sight, and even when we drive by and see him out front we get a waive. I loooove the country breakfast while my husband loves the Chicken and Biscuit special they do most Saturdays.
For birthdays we have ordered amazing and impressive cakes from the bakery and rarely get out of there without purchasing something from the bakery case, I have yet to be disappointed. I also have yet to feel anything but stuffed and content upon leaving Mehri's. -

Almost a year ago, Ron and I talked about visiting this great new little place to eat that he had stumbled upon in the outskirts of the Woodstock neighborhood. Well time moves on, and we finally got there. Thank goodness we did as I was starting to feel antsy without coffee (which was excellent and served in generous-sized cups).
We were greeted at the door by Mehri and allowed to select our table. A nice young staff member brought coffee and menus. We were sorely tempted by the Mother's Day brunch menu, but stuck with the oatmeal (with berries and raisins). This is where we met Syd, Mehri's partner. He successfully forced us to take fresh blueberries to top off the bounty of goodies in the large bowl of oatmeal.
One does have to park on the street, but we had no problems finding a place. Cash or check is required for payment, but they do have an ATM machine available. Everything was very clean. Mehri and Syd are gifted in hospitality, so much so that Ron and I do plan to return and try one of Mehri's tempting pastories. -

Great food, great coffee, great service. Would be 5 stars but some of the breakfasts are a bit expensive. IE: $14 for a country breakfast which consists of...... 1 biscuit cut in half with sausage gravy, 2 eggs, creamy potatoes and the coffee is $3.
Coffee is awesome so we pay it.
Food is awesome so we pay it.
Can't afford to go all the time but when we are flush with cash (they do not take cards - ATM available) then this is the place we go.
You can't beat the friendliness of the owner and staff. Even the guy clearing our table of empty dishes is extremely polite and friendly. -

Just when I thought I'd tried all the worthy breakfast spots in Portland I get delighted again by a new experience. I went because I heard the owner is Persian so I was looking forward to something from their rich food culture, but there was nothing of the sort on the menu.
Nevertheless, my disappointment quickly turned into a smile as the Chicken Fried Steak (pounded oh so thin by the way) and eggs was very good. The gravy is excellent and you get four generous slices of toast to mop it up.
It's also served with "creamy potatoes" which are more interesting than standard home fries or hash browns.
My friend's chicken smothered in hollandaise with avocados (I think) looked excellent. They offer an ample mimosa for $6 and you get your choice of pomegranate and other juices besides orange. Service was friendly from the three different people who stopped by our table.
If you're tired of weekend brunch lines for A-quality then venture south a bit for a pleasant experience. -

Great local bakery and breakfast, brunch, lunch spot! Come on in and seat yourself where you'd like.
The menu has a Persian flair (don't miss the Persian scones with cardamom and pistachios) and Persian hospitality in addition to classics like GIANT pancakes, scrambles, quiche, etc. The plane pancake were delectable, with a mountainous hint of butter at the center. The Fruit Stuffed Pancake was truly gigantic, with a tower of syrupy blueberries and cream. The Spanish omelette was savory, with creamy potatoes on the side. Portions are huge, so think consider sharing unless you just finished a marathon.
